Yesterday, March 2, 2026, around 4:30pm, deputies responded to a school bus stop in the Hallbrook Drive area in reference to two males wearing ski masks presenting a firearm.
Responding deputies quickly located the two suspects and, upon making their presence known, both suspects fled on foot. After a brief foot chase, deputies detained both suspects without further incident. RCSD K9 units responded to the scene to track for the firearm that was presented by the suspects. K9 located the firearm and it was at that time, deputies discovered the firearm was a replica “Glock 17 Gen 5” air-powered gun.
Both suspects, each 15-years-old, were charged with Pointing and Presenting and transported to DJJ.
“There’s no excuse for this kind of behavior,” says Sheriff Lott, “showing up at a school bus stop wearing a ski mask and presenting what looks like a real firearm. They are fortunate this ended with them going to DJJ. That decision could have cost someone their life — including their own — and the outcome could have been far worse.”
