Criminal Investigations Division

The Richland County Investigative Division is comprised of 155 highly trained investigators, evidence technicians, and support staff. The division is divided into specialized, highly trained units. These units include Major Crimes, Special Victims Unit, Region Investigations, Victim Assistance, Narcotics, Polygraph, and Forensic Sciences.

The Investigative Division's mission is to thoroughly investigate a wide variety of criminal cases that occur throughout the county. Our desire is to provide support to the victims of criminal acts, apprehend the offenders, recover stolen property, seize illegal drugs, and the assets from illegal drug sales. We accomplish this through community involvement. Cases are generated through police reports from the public, pro-active investigations, and crime tips received from the community. Investigators are available to speak to your community group, school, or business on many topics related to criminal investigations, victimization, and drugs.

The investigative Division of the Richland County Sheriff's Department has a history of excellence in the solving of difficult cases that occur throughout the county.
