Uniform Division

About the Uniform Division

The Uniform Division is the face of the Richland County Sheriff's Department and the first line of defense. Its primary function is to protect the property and the citizens of Richland County. They are responsible for traffic safety, crime prevention, code enforcement and school safety.

Deputies assigned to code enforcement ensure Richland County neighborhoods are well manicured by enforcing ordinances that require property upkeep. They also enforce the unregistered vehicle ordinance.

The department's Community Services Division also reports to the Major of the Uniform Division. The unit's deputies address and target specific issues that relate to the multiple issues and diversity of the different communities within Richland County. The department's Community Action Team, Code Enforcement and Traffic Safety units fall under the wing of the Community Services Division.
