On June 3, 2026, around 8:30 am, Richland County deputies responded to a residence in Eastover, SC, to take a missing person report. The caller reported her adult son was last seen at the residence around 4:00 pm the night of June 2, 2026.

A few hours later, just after 12:00 pm, deputies responded to Eastover Park (1031 Main St, Eastover) in reference to an unresponsive man in the pool. Deputies were informed park staff located the drowning victim while opening up the facility. The victim was pronounced dead on scene and identified as the man reported missing this morning.

This tragedy is a reminder that drowning can happen quickly. Wear a life jacket when appropriate, never swim alone, and make sure someone knows where you are.

At this time, investigators do not suspect foul play. Please refer to the Richland County Coroner’s Office for information regarding identification and cause of death.
