Sheriff Leon Lott provides additional information on the shootings that occurred on June 4th, in the northeast side of Richland County; leading to a shoot-out with deputies and one man dead.

On June 4, 2026, around 12:15 am, “Team B” does a drive-by shooting of “Team A” at the 200 block of Sagamare Road. Team A then gathers at the 300 block of Legend Oaks. Around 1:50 a.m. Team A does a retaliatory shooting of Team B at the 400 block of Spring Oak Lane and return to Legend Oaks.

Just before 2:00 am, RCSD deputies are dispatched to Spring Oak Lane for a shooting and initiate a K9 track. At approximately 2:20 a.m., K9 Jet successfully tracks Team A to Legend Oaks, where deputies encounter the suspects and begin to give commands. Suspects immediately and repeatedly shoot at the three deputies on the K9 track.

Thus far, investigators have recovered 200 fired cartridge casings and 17 firearms. Evidence confirms that suspects from Team B (Spring Oaks Lane) are connected to the shooting at Sagamare, and Team A suspects are connected with the Spring Oak and Legend Oaks shootings.

At this time, five suspects have been identified in connection with the shooting at Legend Oaks; one suspect, Qwa’Maurie Deaver (18) is deceased. Sireon Beaufort (19), Journey Lindsey (19) and a 16 year-old-juvenile, have all been arrested. All three are charged with three counts of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Breach of Peace, and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime. All three suspects have been denied bond.

Tyjae Miller (21) is wanted for the same charges. Investigators believe Miller is evading law enforcement with the help of a network of family and friends.

The investigation in these shootings continue, “Parents,” says Sheriff Lott, “if you believe your child is involved in these shootings, bring them to the Sheriff’s Department.” “Anyone we find to be aiding and abetting suspects will be held accountable.”

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying additional suspects, including those responsible for the shooting at Sagamare Road. If you have information involved in these shootings, call RCSD at (803) 576-3000 or submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1(888) CRIME-SC.
