News Release: Update on Barricaded Subject on Rhine Falls Ln

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has cleared Rhine Falls Ln for normal operations.


On April 17, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 500 block of Rhine Falls Ln for a domestic violence incident. Deputies spoke with the victim a short distance from the location of the incident. Preliminary information revealed that the suspect struck the victim in the face and strangled her, victim’s injuries were consistent with an assault. The victim also notified deputies that the suspect was armed but the firearm was not utilized during the incident.


Deputies relocated to the incident location to place the suspect under arrest.


There was no answer at the door and to the best of the deputies’ knowledge, the suspect was still at the location. Due to the domestic incident with the knowledge that the suspect was armed with a firearm, RCSD’s SRT unit was requested. SRT responded and after a search warrant was obtained, they cleared the residence without finding the suspect inside. SRT has cleared the area and the area is opened back up for normal operations.


Charges are forthcoming. This is an ongoing investigation and updates will be provided as they are available.

RCSD deputies and Special Response Team are at the 500 block of Rhine Falls Lane in reference to a barricaded suspect.


Sandfarm Trail from Fls Rdg Lane to Swift Current Loop and all of Rhine Falls Lane are closed. Drivers need to utilize an alternate route at this time.
