News Release: Two Stabbed at ASGDC

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a stabbing incident at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center that left two injured.
On July 16, 2026 around 11:30 a.m., deputies responded to 201 John Mark Dial Drive in reference to an assault between two inmates. Upon arrival, deputies were made aware that two inmates were in a physical altercation where both sustained stab wounds from manmade weapons, commonly known as shanks. One inmate sustained a stab wound to the lower body, while the other sustained a stab wound to the upper body.
RCSD investigators are still working to determine what led to the altercation. No arrests have been made at this time.
