Update: Arrest Made in Monticello Homicide

Sheriff Leon Lott announces the arrest of Anthony Boyd (20; DOB: 08/10/05) in connection to the homicide on Monticello Rd.
Investigators were able to determine that the victims and suspect were known to each other, and that they agreed to meet at the location. When the parties arrived at the location, the suspect began firing at the victims. The suspect was identified as Boyd.
On March 5, 2026, at approximately 7:00 p.m., RCSD’s Fugitive Task Force and Special Response Team located Boyd and he was taken into custody without incident.
Anthony Boyd was placed under arrest and charged with Murder, Attempted Murder, and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime. He is being transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he will be awaiting a bond hearing.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting that occurred today, March 5th, 2026, at the 7300 block of Monticello Rd.
Today, just around 12:15 PM, deputies responded to the 7300 block of Monticello Road in reference to a shooting that had just occurred. Upon arrival, deputies located two victims, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies on scene rendered aid until EMS arrived. One victim was transported to a local hospital while the other was pronounced deceased on scene.
The suspect(s) fled prior to deputies’ arrival. Investigators are still working to determine exactly what led to the shooting. No arrests have been made, but the public is not believed to be in danger at this time.
