News Release: Suspect Arrested Following Pursuit

One suspect, Akeem Campbell (DOB: 5/16/92), is in custody following a pursuit that ended in the area of Benedict Street and Farrow Road.


On June 26, 2026, at approximately 4:00 pm, deputies observed a vehicle fail to signal at Mason Road and Sinclair Drive. Deputies activated blue lights, at which time the driver, Campbell, failed to stop, initiating a pursuit. The pursuit ended when Campbell collided with two other vehicles in the area of Benedict Street and Farrow Road. After wrecking, the suspect fled on foot for a short distance before being apprehended by K9 Gunner.


Two civilians were transported by EMS for treatment. Campbell was transported by EMS due to dog bites. Once he is released from the hospital, he will be transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.


Campbell is charged with Failure to Stop for Blue Lights, Reckless Driving, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.
