News Release: Shooting Turned Homicide on Saluda River Rd

Sheriff Leon Lott announces the arrest of David Jackson (21) in reference to a shooting on Saluda River Rd.

            

On May 3, 2026, at approximately 8:45 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Saluda River Rd for a shooting. When deputies arrived at the scene, they located two victims with gunshot wounds. One victim sustained gunshot wounds to both the upper and lower body and the other victim sustained a gunshot wound to the lower body. EMS arrived and transported both victims to the hospital. The suspect, Jackson, was identified and detained at the scene.

            

RCSD investigators and Crime Scene Unit responded to begin an investigation. Jackson was initially charged with two counts of Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

            

On the morning of May 4, 2026, RCSD was notified that one of the victims succumbed to his injuries. One of the Attempted Murder charges for Jackson was then amended to Murder. He is currently housed in the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
