Sheriff Leon Lott announces the arrest of Travis Jerrod Johnson (DOB: 2/9/1982) in reference to a series of nine burglaries occurring in Richland County.
Between June 1 and July 29, 2026, Johnson burglarized nine gas stations across Richland County, from Broad River Road to outbound Two Notch Road. Johnson would force entry by breaking windows and glass doors, then steal cash and cartons of cigarettes. Johnson would then sell the cartons of cigarettes online.
RCSD investigators have been able to tie Johnson to all nine burglaries. On July 29th, investigators took Johnson into custody at a residence in north Columbia. Johnson was served 39 burglary-related warrants including nine counts of Burglary 2nd Degree, eight counts of Malicious Injury to Real Property >$2,000, five counts of Safecracking, and three counts of Grand Larceny >$2,000 <$10,000.
“This is a career criminal,” says Sheriff Lott, “here is someone who has made a living by stealing from others. He wasn’t going to stop until we stopped him.”
Johnson is awaiting his bond hearing.
