News Release: RCSD Investigating Assault at ASGDC

 Sheriff Leon Lott announces the arrest of Alexander Wight (40; DOB: 06/28/86) in reference to a shooting at an apartment complex on Beatty Rd.

On September 23, 2026, at approximately 10:45 a.m., deputies responded to the 1000 block of Beatty Rd for a shooting. While deputies were responding to the scene, the victim arrived at the RCSD substation at 1019 Beatty Rd with a gunshot wound to the upper body. Deputies rendered aid to the victim until EMS arrived and transported him to a local hospital for treatment.

A name and suspect description were provided to deputies responding to the scene and an individual matching the description was located near the scene. The suspect was identified as Wight. Wight made statements admitting to the shooting and was placed under arrest.

Wight was charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime. He was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
