News Release: RCSD Investigates Shooting on Crestmont Road

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting that left one injured.

On September 8, 2026, around 2:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 600 Block of Crestmont Road in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. EMS arrived and transported the victim in stable condition.

Deputies received a description of a vehicle that left from the scene and immediately canvassed the area. Within minutes, the vehicle was located, and a short pursuit ensued. The vehicle came to a stop in the Folkstone neighborhood in Columbia, and the occupants took off on foot.

Multiple suspects have been detained at this time. This incident is under investigation.
