News Release: Pursuit of Burglary Suspect on Farrow Road

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department announces a pursuit with a burglary suspect ending in a collision.
At approximately 3:10 a.m., Richland County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to the 1800 block of Harlem Street in reference to a burglary.
The suspect stole multiple items from the victim's residence, including her vehicle keys, before fleeing the scene in the victim's vehicle.
Deputies circulated the area and located the stolen vehicle near Parklane Road and Two Notch Road and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle briefly slowed before accelerating away at a high rate of speed.
During the pursuit, the suspect lost control of the vehicle near Parklane Road and Farrow Road but continued driving. The suspect then traveled into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle near the intersection of Farrow Road and Interstate 77.
The suspect, who was the sole occupant of the stolen vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was transported by Richland County EMS to a local hospital for medical treatment.
