Lt. Mark A. McColman,
Executive Officer- As
a law enforcement officer since 1984, I have the pleasure of serving
as Lieutenant with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department School Resource
Officer Program. I began with this program in 1995 as a School Resource
Officer at Ridge View High School. Since that time, the program has grown
from three officers to more than 50 officers, covering 3 school districts
and 74 schools. I have been with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department
since 1992 have served as a Resident Deputy, SRO, and as a Sergeant in the
traffic division and Region Six. I am also a member of the Special
Operations Unit as Team Leader of the SRT Support Team and well as Team
Leader of the
Underwater Recovery Unit.

Sergeant Howard Barrett,
2nd Platoon
Leader - graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1979 with a degree in
Criminal Justice. He has worked with the Richland County Sheriff’s
Department for 21 years and have been a school resource officer for nearly 3
years.“You know what’s right….just do it!” |

Sergeant Verlon Rhodes, 1st Platoon Leader
- has been employed
with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department since 1985. He graduated
from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s Degree. He has been
in the S.R.O. division for eight years. He is married to Pamela Rhodes and
they have six children.

Corporal George Godfrey, 2nd Platoon Assistant Leader - was born in Springwood, VA. He was raised in New York City and transplanted to SC in 1994. He has worked in law enforcement for 11 years, six of those as a School Resource Officer. He is also a DARE instructor and Mentor. He is a recording artist as well as an actor. He enjoys singing classical as well as operatic tunes. He is married to a lovely wife of 19 years and has 2 children.

Corporal Rodney Bayne, 1st Platoon
Assistant Leader - has worked in law enforcement for 12 years. Prior to
joining RCSD he worked for the Forest Acres Police Department for five
years. He loves sports like football and baseball. He attends church in
West Columbia and grew up in
Columbia.
