Rev. Michael H. Baker, Region 3 Chaplain

Pastor Baker delivers a profound impact to the Kingdom of God as he inherently inspires and insistently motivates others to operate in a spirit of excellence while using their gifts and talents for God.

Pastor Baker received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Florida Theological Seminary and is currently enrolled in a continuing education program at Oxford University in England to obtain a Masters Degree. A true Man of God, Pastor Baker’s national ministry and international involvement are consistent in a community based work that reaches the heart of God’s people. Currently he is the Senior Pastor of the Greater St. Luke Baptist Church in Columbia , South Carolina . He is the Executive Director of the Light of The World Economic Community Development Corporation. This non-profit corporation assists in sponsoring and promoting religious, educational and community events.

Since advancing to South Carolina, this visionary leader is involved with a wide variety of organizations including, but not limited to, the NAACP, The South Carolina Baptist Congress of Christian Education, Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, South Carolina Prevent Teen Pregnancy Initiative, Richland County Sheriff’s Department Chaplains Division, The 100 Black Men of Greater Columbia, he is the founder of the Annual Pastor’s Cup Golf Tournament and currently serves on the Executive Board of the National Action Network under the leadership of Reverend Al Sharpton.

Pastor Baker has a zest and zeal for our youth and the community. He can be quoted in saying “My concern is for our children.” Under his leadership, the church family sponsor’s an annual “Back to School Crusade”, which culminates with a book bag/school supply give-away. As a community leader the proceeds from the Annual Pastor’s Cup Golf Tournament are used to educate and empower the homeless in the community. Pastor Baker founded the Greater Columbia Holistic Enrichment Development Summer Program that offers academic, music and computer training for the youth. Pastor Baker also served as the Chairman for the first Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance City Wide Revival. This revival brought people of all denominations together as well as helped to eradicate the debt of two families victimized by gang violence.

Pastor Baker is a nationally known Evangelist and the renowned Author of “How to Build Without Borrowing”, which he presently teaches as a course of study during the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education. Previously during the Congress, Pastor Baker taught Administering the Church School (2001-2003) and Wordsearch Biblical Studies- Computer Software (2004-2007). Pastor Baker currently serves on the National Baptist Convention’s Late Night Service Staff. Pastor Baker is also a family man, a native of Jacksonville, Florida and the son of Alice L. Baker and the late Reverend Henry L. Baker. He is a devoted father to Michael and Michelle and a loving grandfather of four grandchildren.

Dr. Henry Cleare, Region 3 Chaplain

Dr. Henry Cleare is a native of Nassau, Bahamas and is married to the former Beverly Simons of Columbia, who is also an ordained Minister of the Gospel.  He is the father of two children and five grandchildren. He is the Senior Overseer of Life Giving Outreach Ministries Church, Inc. of Columbia, SC, under which many other Gospel ministries are covered.  Dr. Cleare is very actively involved in many church, civic, and governmental organizations.  He is the Founder and President of the Panama Missions International Foundation, Panama City, Panama and RanLuCo Transitional Service, Columbia, SC.  He is a Chaplain with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and President of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Greater Columbia; an organization consisting of approximately 125 minister and leaders of the Midlands and the surrounding areas.

Dr. Henry Cleare is an excellent leader in his community, and has received numerous awards for his hours of unselfish volunteer services for the benefit of others.  He has attended various institutions of higher learning and has successfully earned several degrees. He received an Honorary Doctorate of Christian Ministry from Cornerstone Christian Bible College, Fort Wayne, Indiana, and has been blessed to achieve many of his life’s goals. However, the most important of them all is the great relationship that he has accomplished with God and his family.
