Crimestoppers of the Midlands:
Another tool to aid Law Enforcement in the fight against crime.

Crimestoppers is a private, non-profit organization started in the Midlands in 1982 to combat crime in the area.

The primary function of crimestoppers is to provide an outlet through which
anonymous callers can provide information about unsolved crimes

Callers who telephone the 24-hour hotline are immediately given a code number..

If their tip results in an arrest, the caller is eligible for a reward up to $1000.00.

The WLTX-19 crimestoppers news segments air every Tuesday night on the 6 and 11pm news.

Anyone having information about criminal activity is encouraged to call crimestoppers
toll free hotline at 1-800-559-tips or #CS on an Alltel mobile phone.

A SUCCESSFUL CRIMESTOPPERS TIP:

A suspect had committed a series of violent felonies during a January 2004 crime spree.
The suspect did home invasion, motor vehicle theft, kidnapping and armed robbery at one location,
committed an armed robbery at another location. The suspect also shot rounds into a dwelling.
The suspect was initially positively identified and was able to elude capture for several days.
A tip from an anonymous caller to crimestoppers resulted in the capture of the suspect later that same night.
