Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrest of Jabriel Jowan Jones (01/06/88) on charges of ‘entering a bank with the intent to steal money’ and failure to stop for blue lights.

Sheriff Lott stated that at 5:21 PM on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 the Richland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a robbery call at 8850 Farrow Road (TD Bank). Upon arrival, deputies made contact with an employee who stated that Jones handed a note to the teller demanding money. Investigators have determined that Jones fled the bank without receiving any money and as Jones fled the bank he dropped his drivers’ license.

Deputies were able to obtain an excellent description of the vehicle from witnesses; allowing an alert deputy on patrol to spot Jones on Broad River Road. Jones was captured after he led deputies on a vehicle pursuit from Broad River Road back to Farrow Road at Gateway Corporate Boulevard. Deputies recovered a gun belonging to Jones in the vehicle he was driving -- investigators are gathering information to determine if the weapon was in any way connected to this crime.

Jones was arrested and transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
