Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announces the arrests of Elbert Jamil Ruff (DOB: 05/05/89) and Justin Chase Reeves (DOB: 03/13/91) charged 3 counts of attempted murder, discharging firearm into a dwelling, and possession of a stolen handgun.

On Friday, September 30, 2011 at 4:30 AM Reeves was arrested without incident at his residence, 1535 D Broad River Road. On Tuesday, October 5, 2011 at 10:30 AM on the 5000 block of Hardscrabble Road Richland County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Task Force arrested Ruff without incident. Richland County Sheriff’s Department Investigators were able to obtain information from concerned citizens that identified Reeves and Ruff as suspects in this incident.

Sheriff Lott states that at just after 9:00 PM Monday, September 26, 2011 at 103 Cherry Stone Drive -- Richland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a shots fired call. Ruff and Reeves fired multiple shots from a .38 caliber handgun and a stolen 9mm handgun into the home and fled the area. Upon further investigation this incident stemmed from an earlier altercation between Ruff, Reeves and the victims involved and that they were all known acquaintances.

Reeves and Ruff are currently detained at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
