Deputies arrest two in gang related shooting

 

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced today that Deputies arrested a fourteen year old male and twenty year old Corey Anderson (DOB 12-13-87) in connection with a shooting that occurred on Gabriel Street in the City of Columbia – Richland County has charged them with unlawful possession of a weapon and they were transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where they await charges from the City of Columbia.

Sheriff Lott stated that around 11:00 PM several people in a white SUV fired shots at a residence on Gabriel Street and then fled the scene – deputies spotted the vehicle around 12:00 AM and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on West Beltline Boulevard – in the vehicle deputies located a pistol and two suspects (two other suspects fled during the traffic stop). Investigators from Richland County and the City of Columbia are working together to identify the two other suspects that were in the car at the time of the shootingSheriff Lott stated the investigation has revealed that the shooting on Gabriel Street was gang related -- over an ongoing dispute between two gangs.

Sheriff Lott stated that gang members need to know that their disputes will not be settled in our communities and criminal behavior will not be tolerated, period. The community and law enforcement are all working together and if you commit a crime you will be found and arrested.
