Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced today the arrest of two carjacking suspects just hours after the incident occurred.
Sheriff Lott stated Michael Donnell Carter, 18, of 4044 Conners Street in Columbia and a 15-year-old male were arrested by Richland County deputies shortly after 9:00 a.m. after a brief pursuit.
Sheriff Lott said that at approximately 6:25 a.m. law enforcement received a 911 call reporting a carjacking off of Two Notch Road between Fontaine and Pinebelt. The victim reported two males approached his 2008 Chevrolet pickup and ordered him out of the truck, which was equipped with the On-Star tracking system.
At approximately 9:00 A.M. the On- Star service called the Richland County Sheriff’s Department stating they had the location of the stolen vehicle on Two Notch Road near Rabon Road. Deputies made visual contact with the stolen truck at Two Notch Road at Maingate Road . The two suspects were apprehended shortly thereafter at 367 Marsh Deer way. Both suspects will be taken to the Alvin S. Glen Detention Center.
