Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrest of Carol Kring Ross of 2233 Bee Ridge Drive (DOB: 12/17/42) for murder.

At 5:52 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2011 Richland County Deputies received a call from Ross threatening to commit suicide. Upon arrival deputies met with the witness (the adopted daughter of the victim and Ross) who stated that her mother (Ross) was missing and that her father had taken too many pills.

The witness stated that her mother (Ross) had given her father (victim) too many pills. Deputies found the victim unresponsive in the bed; the victim was transported to the Veterans Administration Hospital. The complainant, who was present at the location, stated that the witness told her that she (witness) came home from school to find her parents screaming at each other – the complainant goes on to say that the witness told her that the victim stated, “your mother gave me too many pills.”

Results of the toxicology report shows the victim died of an overdose of prescription medications; the toxicology report also reveals that victim died as a result of an overdose of prescription medication prescribed to the victim, as well as the presence of prescription medication that was prescribed to Ross.

Sheriff Lott states that this is a tragic situation. You have a man who had both of his arms and legs amputated and had been bed ridden for 5 years with no way to take care of himself - - Ross, who was his sole caregiver, was responsible for his well being. If at anytime you feel too stressed in situations such as this, seek help. This is just a senseless killing that could have been avoided.
