Investigation Update

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrest of Brett Parker in connection with the tragic murders that occurred on Friday April 13, 2012, in the Ascot Community in Irmo.

Sheriff Lott states that the deaths that occurred inside the home were aggressively investigated; the forensic evidence has been reviewed and criminal investigators have determined the facts surrounding the incident. Sheriff Lott released the findings stating that he made the announcement today, after much speculation in the community, based on forensic and investigative fact. The Sheriff stated that gambling, often thought of as a victimless crime, played a big part of the scheme that Parker developed to murder Tammy Parker and Bryan Capnerhurst inside the home.

Sheriff Lott states that often cases can be complex and may take time to determine what happened; but it is extremely important to him to bring closure to the two children and family left behind.

Parker turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Department at 3:00 PM and has been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
