Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott holds “Lay Down the Law with Lott”. On January 23, 2010 at the Columbia Ramada Northeast Hotel located at 7510 Two Notch Road from 10AM to 1PM. Sheriff Lott will offer his vision for 2010 on crime trends, preventing crime and improving the quality of life in Richland County with community leaders and the media. During the community symposium, Sheriff Lott will provide a light brunch and display his commitment to the community by asking citizens to openly discuss how they feel about their safety and their quality of life in Richland County. “Laying Down the Law with Lott” will provide details about many of the department’s diverse programs, which have increased the communities’ involvement and decreased crime. Sheriff Lott will discuss the decrease in crime (comparing 2008 to 2009) and how listening to the concerns and actively addressing the issues of our citizens in reducing crime. The Sheriff will discuss how the department is dealing with the economy and how services of the Department continue to grow. “When I took office in 1997, we committed to implementing problem solving community oriented policing in the County. Our objectives have and will continue to include, not exclude, citizens in reducing crime and creating safer communities. The success we have had over the last 13 years has been because of the community’s involvement and the implementation of education, awareness and enforcement, as the cornerstone of the Sheriff’s Department’s mission. As we turn the corner to 2010, we look back at 2009 as a success.
