The Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Harmony Care Hospice, Home Instead, Inc and Chick-Fil-A partner for “BE A SANTA TO A SENIOR” Project. This community service program is designed to provide gifts and bring smiles to our community’s lonely and financially challenged seniors. The partnership between Sheriff Leon Lott, Chick-Fil-A Harmony Care Hospice and Home Instead Inc will conduct several special events over the holidays: December 18, 2009 10:00 AM a breakfast for seniors, provided by Chick Fil-A, will be held at 6429 Bishop Avenue (Denny Terrace Community Center). The Richland County Sheriff's Department will join seniors as they have breakfast and receive gifts from Santa. December 19, 2009 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM at the Chick-Fil-A on Bush River Road. Santa Clause and Deputies will be on hand drumming up awareness for this service care project. December 21, 2009 the Sheriff’s Department’s Project Hope, Community Action Team and Harmony Care Hospice, Home Instead Senior Care, and Chick-fil-A will gather at 1931 Pineview Drive to deliver Christmas gifts to Richland County seniors. Loading of the gifts will begin at 9:00 AM and deliveries to seniors will take place throughout the day – the media is welcome to ride along with the deputies as they deliver gifts and holiday cheer. Details on how “Be a Santa to a senior” works: Prior to the holiday season, participating non-profit organizations, churches, civic organizations, and The Richland County Sheriff’s Department Project H.O.P.E. (helping our precious elderly) identified needy and isolated seniors in the community and confidentially provide those names to representatives from Harmony Care Hospice and/ or Home Instead, Inc. A Christmas tree is placed with ornaments (with senior’s first names on them for holiday shoppers to choose) and the gifts are delivered just days before Christmas!!
