Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrest of Nicholas Demarcu Veal (DOB: 01/06/90) charged with Burglary, Failure to Stop for Blue Lights, and Trespassing.

Sheriff Lott states that on Tuesday, August 02, 2011 Richland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a burglary in progress call at 1207 Broad River Road (In Tha Hood Fashions) just after 3:00 AM. Upon arrival deputies noticed a silver sedan speeding away from the incident location with no lights on. A traffic stop was initiated -- the driver failed to stop. Deputies pursued the suspect vehicle which wrecked on Arrowood Road and Lewand Drive.

Deputies located and arrested Veal who was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Upon further investigation the vehicle was found to be stolen out of Lexington County. It’s believed Veal did not act alone and additional arrests are possible.

Veal was arrested and transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
