RCSD seeks carjacking suspect

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott is requesting the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted for Carjacking and Credit Card Fraud.

At 2:30 AM on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 on the 1200 block of Saint Andrews Road, Columbia, an unknown suspect forcibly stole the victims 2003 Subaru Legacy. The victim stated that the suspect pointed a black object at him which he believed to be a gun and stole his car (light green bearing SC Tag CCP-232), credit cards, cash, and four bowling balls.

Approximately three hours after the initial incident a man believed to be the suspect was caught on surveillance video equipment (photos below) Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at the Wal-Mart located at 360 Harbison Boulevard Columbia, purchasing a giant screen TV using the stolen credit card belonging to the victim.

Sheriff Lott is asking for assistance -- anyone with information should call, email or text your anonymous tip to: Crimestoppers at 1-888-crimesc, or text “TIPSC plus your message” to CRIMES (274637).  Your tip could earn you a cash reward of up to $1000.
