RCSD makes arrests in gangland style murder

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the arrest of five men in connection with the gangland style murder of 24 year old Pierre Wilson of Columbia outside of a Richland County nightclub.

During the early morning hours of March 22, 2017, Pierre Wilson and his brother, 20 year old Damonte Meetze, were viciously ambushed outside of Club Reveal, 6525 Two Notch Road.

The Sheriff says that the crime scene was one of the most ruthless in recent memory, with crime scene investigators processing more than 50+ shell casings from an assault rifle and different caliber handguns.  According to the Sheriff, “ This is what law enforcement is having to deal with, bad guys having access to high powered weapons, and not being afraid to wreak havoc based on their personal beefs, with no regard for innocent bystanders.”

Mr. Wilson was shot in the upper body and passed away, while his brother, Mr. Meetze escaped largely unscathed.

Sheriff Lott says the arrests follow more than 100 hours of investigative work, which included the identification of an expansive drug network that took his investigators from the east coast to the west coast.   The Sheriff says that ultimately this was a personal beef over drugs and money and that thankfully the ruthless ringleader and his accomplices are behind bars.

Arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime is the identified ringleader is 22 year old Barry Reed (DOB 1/5/1991) of Westbury Drive in Columbia, as well as:

  • 27 year old Anthony Brevard (DOB 9/9/1989) of Carmel Street

  • 22 year old Benjamin Chestnut (DOB 11/19/1994) of West Campanella Drive

  • 27 year old Corey Sanders (DOB 7/13/1989) of Lester Drive

  • 25 year old Calvin Rockmore (DOB 1/18/1992) of Charleswood Drive

On March 26, 2017 numerous search warrants were executed to include Barry Reeds home and investigators recovered 12 pounds of marijuana, some $60k in cash and 9 weapons (assault rifles, handguns several which were reported stolen)  During the execution of the March 26, 2017 search warrant,  Reed’s younger brother 21 year old Britton Reed (10/28/1994) was arrested and charged with the unlawful carrying of a pistol for having the stolen weapon of a University of South Carolina police officer in his possession.  Additionally, 23 year old Van Fore (DOB 12/16/1990) has also been arrested and charged in connection with the unlawful carrying of a pistol, during the Department’s execution of the search of Barry Reed’s home.
