On March 21, 2008 at 9:45 PM at 1801/1835 Horshoe Circle an innocent thirteen year old boy was shot several times. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that an altercation occurred at a Club Level on March 20 which resulted in two people opening fire outside the apartments on Horshoe Circle on March 21; resulting in the thirteen year old being hit multiple times. Investigators have determined that Cory Cornelius Jenkins (DOB 10-13-87 of 229 Windsor Point Road Apartment 4F) fired multiple shots with an assault rifle that resulted in the thirteen year old victim being placed in the intensive care unit at Palmetto Health. Sheriff Lott added that investigators have determined that there was a second shooter firing at Jenkins outside of the Apartments and that at least one of the groups involved in the altercation and shooting has gang ties. Sheriff Lott stated that there was a cookout at one of the apartments and several of the people that were at the club the night before were in attendance at the party and present when the shots were fired. Investigators are working to determine the identity of the second shooter. Anyone with information on the identity of the others involved in this incident is asked to call crimestoppers at 888-559-tips – a cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of all responsible for this tragic event.
