- Avoid shopping alone.
- Park your car in a well-lit area. Put cellular telephones, radar detectors, or any other items of value out of sight. Preferably the trunk.
- Know you surroundings. Keep an eye on the people around you.
- Carry your purse close to you body. Do not show large amounts of cash.
- Walk with confidence. If you act like a potential victim you may become one. Avoid talking to strangers.
- Have your keys out and ready as you approach your car.
- If you see anything suspicious or something just does not feel right, leave immediately and call the police.
