The 1974 model Cessna 172 was placed into service in 1977. The airplane is specially modified to provide excellent observation from different altitudes. The aircraft has two seats up front and only one seat in the rear. The observer who normally sits in the rear is able to pivot in any direction and virtually has unlimited visibility thanks to additional plexiglas panels on the sides of the fuselage. The airplane is equipped with a PA system, siren, and Fujinon gyro stabilized binoculars.

The 1971 OH 58 A+ helicopter was obtained from an active duty army unit in Hawaii in March of 1999 without using any taxpayer money. Seized drug assets allowed the department to pay for upgrading the helicopter for law enforcement operations. The Sheriff's Department placed state of the art avionics inside to include a moving map GPS/COM package. A high skid was placed on it to allow the installation of an SX-5 Night Sun. The helicopter is ideally suited to function in a wide variety of missions and is constantly ready for emergency service calls.
