Staff Sergeant Michael Pearson began his career with R.C.S.D. in May 1994 after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He was assigned to the  Dutch Fork area then moved to the upper side after his promotion to sergeant. Sgt. Pearson also served on S.R.T. and Bloodhound tracking team. After 9/11 he was activated for two years in the S.C.N.G. as a MP.  A year at Ft. Stewart and a tour of duty in Iraq.

Corporal Brian Dowdy began his career with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department in 1996 after graduating from Midlands Technical College with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. Dowdy began as a Judicial Service Officer assigned to the County courthouse. In 1997 Dowdy became a Class 1 Patrol Deputy assigned to Region 4. In 2000, he was reassigned to the Traffic Safety Unit. Dowdy holds the honor of being the first motorcycle deputy on the Traffic Safety Unit. While on the Traffic Safety Unit, Dowdy has obtained the rank of Corporal and still is assigned to the Motorcycle Unit.  Cpl. Dowdy can be reached by email at BDowdy@rcsd.net.



 

Senior Master Deputy Randy Davis began his career in law enforcement in 1992 with the South Carolina Department of Corrections and later with the Sumter County Jail.  Davis became a Deputy with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department in 1998, where he was a patrol deputy, before joining there C.O.P. Division focusing on community oriented policing and obtaining the rank of Senior Corporal. In 2002, Davis joined the Richland County Sheriff’s Department with his first assignment being in Region 1. Davis was later assigned to the Traffic Safety Unit where he has received certifications as a motorcycle officer, Traffic Safety Officer through the SC Criminal Justice Academy, Radar Operator, Lidar (Laser) Operator, BA Operator, Collision Scene Reconstruction and Advanced DUI detection.



 

Senior Deputy Kristy Boyles is originally from North Augusta, SC. She is a graduate of Columbia College and has a certificate in alcohol and drug studies from the University of South Carolina. Senior Deputy Boyles joined the Richland County Sheriff’s Department in 2004 after a nine-year career as an Addictions Counselor.  She began in Region 1 area of the county and was later transferred to the Drug Suppression Team. She joined the Traffic Safety Unit in January 2007. Senior Deputy Boyles is assigned to the Motorcycle Unit and holds certifications in Advanced DUI detection, Radar operation and BA operation.


 

Senior Deputy Ryan Galinski is originally from Michigan and holds Bachelor degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science and a Master's degree in Business Administration. He started law enforcement with the U.S. Department of Justice and volunteered as a Reserve Deputy with the RCSD in 2005. He joined the department full-time soon after as he enjoyed working with the community and seeing positive change locally. Deputy Galinski began his time in Region 2 as a road deputy and was promoted to the Traffic Unit. Since that time, he has been on the Drug Suppression Team, as well as the Crime Suppression Team. Deputy Galinski enjoys his time studying laws and protecting the communities through education and enforcement.

Senior Deputy Micky Johnson began his law enforcement career in 1994 with the Whitmire Police Department. He then served as a Master Deputy with the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office from 2000-2002. He then worked for the Chapin Police Department from 2002-2005, before entering into the private sector. He joined the Richland County Sheriff’s Department in June of 2007 and was assigned to the Traffic Safety Unit in December of 2008. Deputy Johnson has been an active member of the South Carolina National Guard since 1993.

Deputy Johnson is currently activated in the National Guard.


 


 

Senior Deputy James Owens began his law enforcement career in June of 2007. He was assigned to the Lower Richland area of the county until his assignment to the Traffic Safety Unit in January of 2009. Deputy Owens is an active member of the South Carolina National Guard and served a tour of duty in Iraq from 2003-2005. He has been in the National Guard since 1997.
 

Senior Deputy Jason Roberts has 14 years of law enforcement experience, 13 of which have been spent at the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. He has held positions from Court Security to Corporal on the Community Action Team. Roberts joined the Traffic Safety Unit in December 2008 and says he is a Deputy because he enjoys helping others. He also feels that honesty is the best policy.


 

Senior Deputy William Sullivan began working at the Richland County Sheriff’s Department in 2005 and has been assigned to the Traffic Safety Unit since 2010. Deputy Sullivan is a graduate of the Technical College of the Low Country and the University of Phoenix. Deputy Sullivan is certified in Operation of Speed Measuring Devices (RADAR/LIDAR), Standard Field Sobriety Testing, Datamaster Operation, as well as several other certifications. Deputy Sullivan is currently assigned to the North East area of Richland County.
