The
Richland County Gang Unit is manned by three full time
Investigators, It is their job to collect information on Gangs, track Gang
activity, conduct gang awareness classes and assist the Criminal
Investigation Division with Gang related crimes.
The Gang Unit's Mission is to eradicate gang activity through
expanding the knowledge of the Citizen, Law Enforcement, Teachers and
School Administrators. This mission is accomplished through
Gang Awareness classes that are taught free of charge to any group
requesting the presentations. We also have a new program to help parents
who believe their children have been or are possibly being recruited by
Gangs. The Gang Investigators are specially trained to conduct classes for
today's youth through the Gang Resistance Education and Training program (G.R.E.A.T.),
this program is currently being offered in some elementary schools.
