Deputy Carey Roberts was born and raised in Columbia, SC. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2009 with a degree in History and was able to spend her junior year studying in England. Shortly after graduation, she participated in the RCSD Citizen's Academy and greatly enjoyed it. Before joining the Community Action Team, Deputy Roberts patrolled Region 6 for almost two years. Deputy Roberts has never met a stranger and is always willing to ensure her communities needs are addressed.

Senior Deputy Garo Brown was born and raised in Amityville NY. He moved to Columbia SC in 1999, and started his Law enforcement career by earning a distinguished graduate award at the SCCJA as a class 1 officer in April of 2000. He is currently completing my degree in computer technology. Deputy Brown enjoys the CAT team as it uses a proactive approach to Law enforcement instead of a reactive approach. Getting out and speaking with community members and giving presentations on current issues are one of his favorite parts of the job.

Senior Deputy Selena Williams was born and raised in Winnsboro SC. She graduated from Fairfield Central High School in 2002. She received her certification in Medical Coding in 2002 but wanted to pursue her dream career in Law Enforcement. Deputy Williams was employed with Fairfield County Sheriff's Department as a 911 telecommunicator from 2003-2008. She began her dream job with Richland County Sheriff's Department in 2008. She is highly motivated, willing and ready to serve the communities of Richland County to the best of her abilities.

Deputy Addy Perez was born and raised in The Bronx, New York and moved down to South Carolina in 2014. Deputy Perez joined the U. S Army Reserves in 2008. She deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan in 2010 and served as a Veterinary Technician for military working dogs overseas. She was a Drill Sergeant in 2013 and served her time in Fort Knox, Fort Leonard wood and Fort Jackson. In 2014 to 2016 she was accepted as a Drill Sergeant Leader in the United States Army Drill Sergeant Academy training Non-commissioned Officers into Drill Sergeants. She graduated from AMU with a Bachelor in Environmental Science. Deputy Perez was hired in 2016 with the Richland County Sheriff Department and worked as a Uniform Patrol Officer in Region 7.  In April 2018 she was assigned with the Community Action Team for Region 2 area. Deputy Perez was given the opportunity to be part of LIVE PD to represent for Richland County Sheriffs Department.

Corporal Marcus Kim was born and raised in Columbia, SC. He graduated with a bachelors degree from the University of South Carolina. Dep. Kim began his career at the Sheriff's Department in 2007. He left the department for a short period and returned in May 2009. Deputy Kim was assigned to region 2 in 2009 and joined the Community Action Team in June of 2010.

Deputy Jason Cuzzupe was born and raised in Newtown Square, PA. He graduated from University of South Carolina in 2014 where he majored in Criminology and Criminal Justice; he also played lacrosse for USC. After college he pursued a career in law enforcement which was strongly influenced by having many family members in law enforcement in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Jason graduated the SCCJA in June of 2015. He spent the first year and a half of his career on patrol in region 2 before joining CAT.

Senior Deputy Shanita Grimes was born and raised in Summerville, SC.  She graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in May 2013.  During her time in college, she enjoyed learning about the social stratification of various socioeconomic groups and how that impacts their lives on a daily basis.  She decided to make Columbia, SC home and began her career with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department during the fall of 2013.  She was assigned to Region Three as a patrol deputy and worked there before being transferred to the Community Action Team.  Some of her favorite activities on the Community Action Team involve speaking with the citizens of Richland County, addressing their concerns, and having an overall positive interaction with the community.

Senior Deputy Mohanad Gabr is from Cairo, Egypt.  Upon completion of his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Cairo's Ain Shams University, Deputy Gabr worked for Wachovia Bank.  In 2007, he made the decision to pursue his dream career in law enforcement by joining the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. In his spare time, Deputy Gabr enjoys watching and playing soccer along with reading in either Arabic or English. Deputy Gabr is proud to serve on the Community Action Team.

Deputy Angel Rodriguez was born in Cuba and his family decided they wanted a better life for him and his sister. They decided to flee the island when he was 4 years old, spending a couple of nights in the Ocean and 5 months in Guantanamo, finally making it to Miami where he was raised. Dep. Rodriguez began to work at a young age at Panera Bread and Papa John’s where he became a shift manager at both jobs due to great customer service and hard work. He graduated high school, and then joined the Army National Guard. He was completed a few years as an Infantry Soldier and Honorably Discharged. He then pursued his dreams in becoming a law enforcement officer. The path he took brought me to Columbia SC. Dep. Rodriguez spent 2 years at the court house then 1 year on the road, working a high call area in Region 4. In almost 4 years as a deputy with RCSD he has worked with the Youth Services division and Gang Unit.  As a deputy for RCSD he is one of the on call Spanish interpreters, making sure the Spanish residents of Richland County get the same and fair treatment as everyone else. Dep. Rodriquez is very excited to be a part of this department and team.

Senior Deputy Kelly Smith graduated from the SCCJA in 2014 as a class one officer. Before the Academy She worked part time in the records division while working on her Bachelor’s degree at The University of South Carolina Columbia. She graduated with a degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. Also while in college Kelly was also very active in sport playing college soccer for three years as well. With a great attitude and highly motivated, she has started her career and is now working on the CAT team.  Kelly is excited and works very hard to ensure the safety of others, as well as having positive interaction with her communities as well.

Senior Deputy Travis Roberts began his career in law enforcement as a Reserve Deputy in 2001 with the Richland County Sheriff's Department and came to the Department full time in October 2002.

Deputy Roberts graduated the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in February 2002 and was assigned to Region 6 as a patrol unit. He was promoted to Master Deputy in 2004 and then to Field Training Officer in 2005.Deputy Roberts left the Department in 2007 as a full time officer and remained active with the Department as a Reserve Deputy and returned full time to Region 7 in February 2009. Deputy Roberts came to the Community Action Team in October 2009.

Senior Deputy Joe White Deputy moved to Columbia, SC after serving in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman aboard the USS Sacramento AOE-1 (Bremerton, Wa and the USS Tripoli LPH-10 (San Diego, Ca). He also did a stint with Navspecwargru Det 119 Coronado while in San Diego. Deputy White began his civilian law enforcement career in 1994 at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. While at the Detention Center, he was worked security with the U.S. Marshall Service for five years. After Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, he worked at the V.C. Summer Nuclear Plant on their “Nuclear Take Back Team”. While there, he joined the U.S. Air Force as a Reserve Air Police Officer at Charleston Air Force Base. Deputy White worked for the Eastover Police Dept. for a year then began working at the Richland County Sheriff’s Department in 2011.

During his downtime he enjoys: spending time with his daughter, a participating member of the men’s ministry at church, softball (he has a NSA Softball World Championship Ring), and watching television. His favorite quote is “The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday”!
